Concerts in the Community
"Bringing the beauty of chamber music to local communities in and around Cincinnati, one concert at a time."
Our Mission
At Concerts in the Community, our mission is to bring the joy of chamber music to local neighborhoods and create unique, intimate concert experiences that foster connections between people and communities. We believe that music has the power to inspire, heal, and unite, and we are committed to making it accessible to everyone. By partnering with local organizations and performing in familiar and meaningful venues, we strive to build stronger, more vibrant communities, one note at a time.
A message from our co-founder
Dear visitors,
I'm delighted to welcome you to Concerts in the Community, a project that's incredibly close to my heart.
Concerts in the Community is an organization that seeks to bring communities together through the power of small classical music concerts.
During the summer of 2022, I performed in two concert series with a string quartet, one in towns around Southern Illinois and one in Malicorne-sur-Sarthe in France. Despite the audiences for both concert series being halfway across the globe from each other, their response to the concerts were surprisingly similar. These audiences each shared a deep appreciation for the value of community, and they rarely had the opportunity to experience classical music concerts in venues that were meaningful to them. Seeing how much these concerts meant to the audiences, I knew that I wanted to create that same kind of experience for my own community around Cincinnati.
That's why our concerts take place in venues that are familiar and meaningful to the communities we serve. We believe that by performing in these venues, we can create a sense of community and belonging that's often missing in our modern lives.
While we haven't yet put on any concerts, we're in the planning stages of this pilot project, set to start in mid-2023. We're committed to providing unique and memorable experiences that will leave a lasting impression on everyone who attends.
Thank you for your interest in Concerts in the Community. We hope that you'll join us on this journey as we create meaningful experiences and bring people together through the power of classical music.
Best regards,
Nicholas Wilbur, Co-Founder
